Tuberculosis (TB) is a pertinent issue in Cambodia. Among 22 high TB burden countries in the world, Cambodia has the highest mortality rate, with 9,300 cases. It is the only disease declared a Global Emergency (WHO 1993). In the past 200 years 1,000 million men, women and children have died of TB. TB extends itself in various regions of the country and differents countries in the world. The most affected countries are South Africa, Botswana, India, Cambodia, Thailand.
As medicine progress, TB mute also: MDR-TB (Multi Drugs Resistant) and XDR-TB (Extrem Resistant Drugs) are the TB mutations that can predict a pandemic situation, if nothing is done against it. In April 2015 I followed different Institutions and Organisations's teams to be able to translate the situation of TB in the country.
The work of Médecins sans Frontières at the hospital of Kampong Cham, of Active Case Finding in the region of Kampong Cham of the National Center for Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control (CENAT) and of the Operation Asha NGO (an Indian NGO also based in Cambogia) in Phnom Penh calls up to the life, to the helpfull assistance, to the compation, to the integrity and the dignity of people affected by TB. This extrem situation brings people together.
The attention that one can give to someone else grows up. When the incomprehensible collides a life, people seek the beautifullness of everyday life, want to reach a sens. There is no other way to aspire to the life.
